Aloka: A Peaceful Tail, a Heart‑Shaped Blessing, and a Mission of Light
Like many others, I’ve been following the incredible peace pilgrimage of the Buddhist monks. What has captivated me most is how people from every walk of life are moved and inspired by their mission. It reveals just how deeply we are collectively longing for peace — peace with one another, and peace within ourselves.
I’ve watched countless videos of people brought to tears at the mere sight of the monks… who are living embodiments of sacred service in motion. Their selfless and purposeful undertaking is cracking the door to hope and sparking a collective wave of healing.
And then there is their four-legged companion, Aloka — quietly fulfilling his role within the higher soul plan guiding this gentle and deeply empowered group of lightworkers across America.
The name Aloka means “light,” but in Buddhist circles it carries an even more evocative meaning: illumination or spiritual enlightenment. Animal lovers everywhere are drawn to this peaceful canine’s energy like sunflowers turning toward the sun.
In my book Animal Wayshowers, I write about a way of being I call Transformational Healing Presence (THP), which is something Aloka (and the monks) are beautifully exhibiting. Wayshowers are lightworkers with a strong commitment to serve others and share their gifts with all who might benefit. They “show us the way” to our hearts.
We often overlook the profound gift of humbly emanating THP. Animals who embody this presence are usually more detached, yet their quiet old‑soul strength is revered and respected by all. These animals have the ability to transcend the emotions of those around them simply by holding a higher frequency of light. Even more, at the soul level there is a loving purpose to their sacred work. They emanate understated elegance and grace, woven into a bliss‑filled union of the heart.
Many animals have incarnated to hold this loving presence as part of their sacred service to humanity. Always express gratitude to these incredible beings, for they have gone through much to achieve this state of being.
Their souls usually don’t want a toy or a treat as thanks — material recognition is not the way of those who embody this high level of consciousness. The highest form of appreciation for these remarkable lightworkers is to emulate their ways:
• Tend to your own vibration and strive to maintain a higher frequency with greater regularity through your daily choices.
• Listen without judgment.
• Accept everyone as they are and wherever they are on their journey as right and perfect for them.
• Love others unconditionally without trying to control or fix them.
• Live authentically. Be true to yourself by intentionally connecting to your Divine nature.
• Hold a safe, loving space for the highest and best of all.
• Allow your vibration to organically serve others.
Back to Aloka — this incredible dog seems to be on a very intentional mission to serve the Animal Kingdom and make a positive difference in the hearts of countless people. He is inspiring and transforming others at every turn. The monks have spoken about how insistent Aloka was on joining their peace‑filled mission in India, to the point that they adopted him.
As I watch the videos and witness how deeply the monks love him, it is clear that Aloka’s primary service is to them — supporting and loving them through this courageous and meaningful journey. The Animal Kingdom has been doing this for humanity for thousands of years.
In this moment pause, take a breath, and acknowledge the enormity of this act of selflessness by the Animal Kingdom. Send them gratitude. Send them love. And as much as possible, emulate their virtues. And perhaps you might even be guided to adopt an animal companion or two…
May Aloka remind us that every heart, when aligned with love, becomes a beacon of light capable of changing the world.
