The November Rose: A Blooming from Within
Reflections on Divine Timing, Soul Growth, and the Wisdom of a Rose
Earlier this week, while walking through my flower garden, I was surprised (actually elated) to discover an unexpected November gift from my favorite rose: a single, exquisite bud. She’s never bloomed later than June before, but like all her past blooms, it was exquisite. Her arrival stirred something within me—a quiet knowing that she was more than a flower. She was a symbol… a messenger of something deeper, representing the birth of something unexpected.
In metaphysical traditions, the rose is far more than a botanical beauty. She is a sacred emissary of divine love, emotional healing, and spiritual transformation. Her petals carry the energy of soul contracts fulfilled, of inner work ripened into something beautiful. Roses are said to hold the highest vibrational scent on Earth.
Each day, I visited her—witnessing her growth, documenting her unfolding, and connecting with her presence. My intention was to listen with my heart, so as to not to miss her messages.
In recent months, I’ve shed many skins, peeling back yet more layers of that dadgum onion, and embraced deeper truths about myself. The rose’s arrival might be an unveiling of something new being birthed… or a sacred emergence from within.
Over the course of five or six days, I observed the bud’s slow, gentle growth with great anticipation. There comes a time when the bud knows it can no longer remain within the protective constraints of its form. The rose simply trusts the birthing energy and surrenders to the unknown of the bloom—the growth… the birth… the becoming.
We all cross thresholds and walk through endless gates of initiation, each requiring great courage and faith. There are rolling contractions, and it’s almost never straightforward. But as we transition from one state to another, our souls beckon us to burst through the constraints of the bud so that something new can bloom from within.
We’re always birthing something, and deep inside we know that the only way to surrender to the initiation is to surrender to the innate power within. This power is internal, yet intimately connected to the intelligence that exists within all life. It’s the same energy that tells flowers when to bloom.
It helps to lean into the natural rhythms of life and trust that all is unfolding as it should. Faith will carry us through every challenge. Our souls always want us to grow into even more of who we truly are—to reveal more of our Divine essence.
So, here’s to the beauty of this unexpected November gift—for both of us. May we welcome the growth and new births that arrives out of nowhere. May we trust the timing of our own unfolding. And may we, like the rose, rise from within and radiate with the light of all we’ve become… and all we’re becoming.
